"The people up front weren't going to beat me in the series. I had to make it tough for those who could, and that's exactly what I aimed to do," he explained. As the race intensified, Jones described the challenging conditions, with riders squinting through the spray of the person in front, trying to maintain their focus and position.
As the finish line loomed, Jones' strategy came to the forefront. He positioned himself at the front of the pack, ready for the sprint. "I knew what was at stake. I went as deep as I could, leaving everything out on the course," he recalled. With a unique setup, including a Scott Addict Gravel RC with a 50-tooth chainring and specialized shifters, Jones adapted his strategy to the less technical course, utilizing his time trial position to gain an edge.
