Living rooms reflect the lifestyles and style needs of their owners. Some spaces are bright and lively. Others are dark and moody. Some feature a TV. Others don’t. No matter what your preferences, you’ll find a range of ideas for palettes, furniture arrangements and other features in this countdown of the most-saved living room photos uploaded to Houzz this year.

10. Treetop Transitional

Large windows, multiple skylights and a cathedral ceiling open up this transitional-style living room by James David Custom Homes in San Juan Capistrano, California. The painting above the fireplace lends a peaceful vibe, popping against creamy white walls. Leafy plants add a touch of green and connect the room to the treetop views beyond. On the left, a wall-to-wall wood built-in brings warmth and includes storage and a large-screen TV.

9. Coastal Character

This well-appointed space by Stephanie McLean Geyer Interior Design in Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina, features a calm, beachy feel with soft coastal grays, whites and blues. Leather club chairs add a warm punch of color. And the cozy furnishings create an intimate atmosphere despite the room’s towering ceiling and brick fireplace.

Sklar Studios

8. Midcentury Mood

Midcentury modern design rules in this 1953 home in San Diego. Architect Kristi Byers and designer Karyn Sklar of Sklar Studios brought many original details back to life during the renovation, including the copper fireplace hood they restored and redipped for a brilliant glow. A custom yellow sofa complements the hood, colorful carpet tiles pick up tones used throughout the space, and a Noguchi coffee table and Eames lounge chair bring in era-appropriate furnishings.

7. Fashion Focal

Soaring ceilings with stained beams draw the eye up to create an expansive feel in this Dallas living room by Baker Design Group. Hits of brown and wood tones warm up the mostly white-and-gray palette. A large landscape painting and dark gray cut-stone surround establish the fireplace as the main focal point, while an offset TV and console provide entertainment.

6. Creative Corner

took a similar approach with this Atlanta living room by playing up the corner fireplace. White painted paneling, a black floating mantel, a black surround and dark artwork draw attention to the fireplace, while a less-assuming TV and console provide a secondary focus.

5. Regency Richness

James Fung and Whitney Maehara of NB Design Group gave this Seattle living room midcentury modern style and Hollywood Regency flair with a custom mohair sofa, a burl coffee table and other warm decorative accents. White oak casework, oak flooring and a split-face limestone fireplace create depth and richness in this new home by architect Andrew Russin and Darren Patt Construction.

4. Colorful Craftsman

Color energizes the sitting room of this 1930 American Foursquare home in Pittsburgh. Green paint on the fireplace wall (Yeabridge Green by Farrow & Ball) coordinates with the Craftsman-inspired wallpaper, which picks up other hues in the space.

Andy Weier and Patrick Rakszawski of Rockledge Design + Architecture restored much of the room’s original character, including opening the original chimney column and installing an antique mantel, and added new features like floating shelves and built-in storage. They also sourced period-appropriate furniture to create a cozy, inviting and cohesive space.

Manlove and Company Interiors

3. Stone Style

A stately stone fireplace anchors this sophisticated living room in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Manlove and Co. Interiors coordinated an array of furniture and accessories in colors that complement the stone tones to create a calming yet sophisticated atmosphere.

Baylis Architects

2. Moody Mix

Soothing shades of blue, tan and white envelop this living room by Baylis Architects, echoing the serene moodiness of the coastal Seabrook, Washington, fog outside. Black-framed windows, a dark fireplace stone surround and other dark accents add touches of drama.

Baroni Building Company

1. Pattern Play

Pattern and shape create a nuanced style in this mostly neutral Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, living room by Baroni Building. A herringbone-patterned fireplace, a Greek key-like pattern on the lounge chair, a geometric coffee table base and other patterns on the pillows, blankets and swivel chairs create layers of interest in the light and airy space.
