This Keto Bagel Dogs, aka Pretzel Dogs recipe, is your hot dog and bun in one. They are the ultimate Low Carb game day food – just add the sauce.
Note: there are no low-carb substitutes for inulin – it is needed to “feed” the yeast and make the dough rise.
This Low Carb Bagel Dogs recipe makes 12 serves. One serving is one wrapped hot dog with 3g net carbs.
Keto Bagel Dogs Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons of Dried Yeast
- 1 teaspoon of Inulin
- 2 tablespoons of Warm Water
- 11 ounces of Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
- 2 ounces of Butter
- 5.5 ounces of Almond Flour
- 2 teaspoons of Xanthan Gum
- ½ teaspoon of Salt
- 2 large Eggs
- 12 Keto-Friendly Hot Dogs – the hot dogs we used have 1g net carbs each
- Toppings of Choice – we used Poppy Seeds, Everything Bagel Seasoning and Ranch Spice Mix
How to Make Keto Bagel Dogs
- Preheat your oven to 175C/350F.
- Place the yeast, inulin, and warm water in a bowl, and leave in a warm place to activate.
- Place the cheese and butter into a small saucepan and place over low heat. Heat until completely melted.
- In your stand mixer, add the almond flour, xanthan gum, and salt. Mix with the paddle attachment. (if you don’t have a stand mixer, you can mix with your hands using latex gloves as the dough is sticky)
- Add the yeast mixture and melted cheese to the stand mixer. Mix on medium speed and add the eggs, one at a time.
- Mix until a smooth dough has formed.
- Split the dough into 12 balls. Roll each ball into a long sausage shape and, wrap it around each of the hot dogs, place it onto a lined cookie sheet. Repeat until all the hot dogs are wrapped.
- Roll each of the hot dogs in the toppings of your choice.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the dough is puffed up and golden brown.
- Serve hot
